teaching
In September 2007, Chester moved from two semesters of 12 weeks [15 credit modules] to a single semester of 24 weeks [20 credits modules]. I sat on the revalidation panels for the Honours in Communication Studies, Public Relations and Geography [as external]. I was the co-chair of the Research Committee, and a member of the Publicity group. I was returned for RAE 2008, in the Social Policy UOA, with a personal target of '4'. See the appropriate section for my research activities. At Chester, I lectured at the interface of new media, policy, politics and communications. In 2007/8 I was leading / contributing to the following modules, covering the full BA spectrum [single and joint Honours in Communication / Sociology]: Level 1 - Communication Toolbox 1 Level 1 - Sex, Scandal and Society Level 2 - Communication Toolbox 2 [double module, module leader] Level 2 - Debates in Sociology Level 2 - The Shaping of Society Level 2 - Research Methods Level 3 - Con_txts of communication [module leader] Level 3 - Celebrities and Realities I supervised a number of final dissertations, to do with media portrayals of beauty, conflict diamonds, the changing music industry, and voting behaviour in the North West of England and Wales.
All this, of course, when I could make it in... This was in February 2006. It is slightly different now in Seville.
